Problems of… Lordosis
When we look at the posture of a person, we have to evaluate the body in a frontal plane (we look at the person from the front or behind) and in a sagittal plane (we look at the person from the side).
Lordosis and Chiropractic
In the sagittal plane, a vertical line is imagined starting from the highest point of the scull and then it passes through the meatus of the ear, the center of the humeral head of the shoulder, the lumbar vertebral bodies, the head of the femur at the hip, slightly anterior to the midline of the knee and finally slightly anterior to the lateral malleolus (ankle).
The curvatures of the spine
At the level of the back, you can see the presence of 3 natural curves; lordosis lumbar, kyphosis dorsal and lordosis cervical.
The most frequent dimorphism of the spine is straightness, with a position of the shoulders and the head too far forward.
Another dimorphism that are regularly found are dorsal hyperkyphosis, it is an accentuation of a normal dorsal kyphosis, the name “hump” and hyperlordosis, which refers to an increase in physiological lumbar lordosis (having a small degree of lordosis is normal).
How to avoid lordosis problems
The architecture of the spine is calculated with a very specific biomechanical shape with 3 physiological curves to be able to withstand and endure more.
Maintaining a correct lumbar, cervical or lordosis curvature, and a correct dorsal kyphosis, is necessary and important on a mechanical level for the good function of the spine.
This way it is possible to bear more weight and physical stress in daily life.
Thus, we avoid that the weight falls directly only on the intervertebral discs and the risk of abnormal wear is minimized. Also, the lumbar paravertebral musculature is in condition to support a large part of the body’s weight.
Step by step treatment
Chiropractic treatment is really effective in recovering and maintaining the physiological curvature of lumbar or cervical lordosis, correct dorsal kyphosis and promote good vertebral articular mechanism.
Both our chiropractic centers in Barcelona and Sitges are equipped with American treatment tables Lloyd 900hs adapted to the Thompson technique and PST, among others, and a state-of-the-art technique designed to maintain, recover or diminish the three most important natural curves, which are essential for the proper functioning of the spine.
Chiropractic adjustment focuses on the realignment of the vertebrae, restoring optimal flexibility and progressive recovery of spinal curvatures. Consequently, it will have an impact on a better quality of life in the short, medium and long term.
CONTRAINDICATED TO SIT
In the first 10 to 15 minutes after your visit it is contraindicated to sit down.
During this period of time it is necessary to walk to mobilize the joints that we just release and walking also facilitate better joint lubrication and nutrition of the intervertebral discs.
IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS
During the next 24 hours following the first sessions avoid any excessive effort.
Otherwise, the effectiveness of the adjustment received will decrease.
BEFORE AND AFTER
Before and after every visit, avoid all kinds of tension.
Both physical and mental. The more relaxed you are the more benefit you will get from your treatment.
The set appointments must be respected.
They have been established to obtain the best results.
AFTER AN ADJUSTMENT
The sensations that each person may experience after an adjustment may vary without affecting the result and benefit of the treatment in the medium and long term.
After an adjustment, you may experience a feeling of relaxation, having a lot of energy, general well-being, disappearance or relief of symptoms, soreness or pain.
You may sometimes even experience discomfort since the body has to adapt to the new posture and position.
