Fibromyalgia: natural chiropractic treatment

by | Mar 27, 2023 | chiropractic, Fibromyalgia

There are no blood tests or imaging tests (X-rays, MRI, etc.) that can detect any signs of fibromyalgia.

The only diagnostic criterion, apart from the presence of symptoms (diffuse and migratory pain, chronic fatigue, frequent dizziness and headaches) is the presence of certain painful points where the doctor presses.

The tests requested are useful to rule out other pathologies: a complete blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, rheumatoid factor, special tests in the immunological area, thyroid profile, serology to rule out celiac disease and tests to rule out vitamin D deficiency, among others.

When all the medical tests are negative, fibromyalgia is diagnosed. Alterations in the balance of certain central nervous system transmitters are confirmed, but with no known cause.

In the face of drug resistance to the disease, some remotologists propose medication based on thiamine, magnesium, phosphocreatinine, salbutamol, triiodothyronine and alprazolam, among others, depending on the case. Unfortunately, this does not treat the cause of fibromyalgia, but only some possible metabolic consequences of the disease.

Natural chiropractic treatment for fibromyalgia

In chiropractic, we analyse the patient’s condition on a structural, metabolic and emotional level.

On a structural level, our experience shows that people diagnosed with fibromyalgia actually have a tension of the dura mater. The dura mater is a membrane that surrounds the brain and is attached to all cranial sutures, runs down the inside of the first three cervical vertebrae, until it attaches to the sacro-coccygeal joint.

Experience and research show that chiropractic treatment, searching for and eliminating localised interferences in the nervous system that are due to vertebral displacements, i.e. subuxations at the level of the back, can often resolve the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

In the absence of a pathological condition, by investigating the causes and restoring good vertebral realignment by eliminating these interferences, the nervous system is put in a position to function as well as possible.

By modifying these mechanisms and working with the body rather than artificially altering its chemistry, through chiropractic adjustment it is possible to restore the nervous system, leaving it free of subluxations and interferences, in a natural and painless way. The result will undoubtedly resolve many imbalances in our nervous system and eliminate or considerably reduce all symptoms related to inflammation and pain.
